I'm not receiving email notfications either. We're looking into it and will update on the situation in due course.

We are still working on this.
For what it's worth, we had disabled these so we didn't deluge you with updates as we migrated the content over.
Thanks,
Erich

Hi JC,
based on user feedback, we consolidated some forums into more general spaces so we could take advantage of the new tagging feature. Threads can now be tagged to fit into more than one context, and you aren't required to choose a specific forum if it doesn't quite fit.
Although you cannot fine-tune your Notifications to select beyond the forum itself, you can set up an RSS feed using a specific tag.
Here's an example for you:
https://community.emc.com/community/feeds/tags/federated_search?community=2439
Note: the RSS feeds will only work once you've been authenticated, and not through a web-based feed reader (like Google).
If we feedback that this isn't enough, we can review and alter the structure a bit.
Thanks,
Erich

Hi,
I've just received some notifications but none match my former watched forum.
It seems that we're now notified with new messages within a community (Documentum).
Would it be possible to be notified for a particular Tag Group only ? (Federated_Search for example).
Thanks,
JC

They seem to be working now.
Let us know if you have any more issues with this.
Sidenote: getting Notifications on a space (like our root-level Support Forums) will get you notified on updates within all the sub-spaces. You might want to adjust your Notifications through your profile.

Thanks Erich.
Small communities like Federated Search (and many others) does not generate a lot of new threads and messages / month.
I'll be concerned by less than 1% of the notifications.
I've removed the email notification for the Documentum community. Even if enabled, the notifications that I'm interested in will be lost within the others.
Our users and customers might also remove the notifications. We'll lose a great communication tool if that happens.
Having a workaround (like Marc's) would be of a great benefit for us and our users.
Thanks,
JC

well - so far I have only gotten notifications with [Support Forums] Subject prefix
for the the Celerra forum I havent gotten any - even though there were some replies
I've just disabled and enabled watches there - lets see if it helps

Would it be possible to be notified only for a tag or group of tag ?
Another possibility would be to have the tags in the body of the emails notification so that we can define Outlook rules. That would increase network traffic but it may be easier than the first solution.
The RSS feed approach is a problem for me if it cannot work with my usual reader (Google Reader).

would it be possible to have the forum category (like Celerra) in the EMail watch subject like it was on the old forum
this way people working with multiple sections can still use Outlook filters to file them into the right mailbox
Also - how can I set it up so that I also get EMail notifications for my own posts/replies ?

We do include the Forum name in the email notifications - are you not seeing it?
Here's one I just got:

Marc - having tag-group-based notifications is going to be available in the next version of the platform, and although we are planning out our upgrade schedule, I'm hoping for early next year.
I also like your idea about having the tags in the email subject line. I will submit it as a Feature Request.
Thanks,
Erich

Hum. So we will have to find an interim solution for several month to come.
Would adding the tag in the body or title of the message be feasible in a short timeframe ?

Hello Erich,
Requiring use of RSS feeds is a questionable expectation. The current solution is equivalent spamming, with the disadvantage that now all users need to specifically review each email to determine if it applies to their product which is a significant, and unacceptable, productivity hit. The previous solution was a better solution by allowing users to specifically choose to get email notification of only their forums of interest.
In my case, the Documentum forum has a number of products, so grouping all these products into a single forum results in a large number of email notifications, not just a few. The granularity offered by the previous implementation was much preferred. If RSS tagging was determined to be an added feature, then a separate forum that simply concatenated the individual forum posts into a larger forum could've been implemented, allowing the individual notifications to still exist but yet allow other composite solutions to exist as well. If at a later time it was determined that the individual granularity wasn't necessary, changes could be made then.
If people are going to actually choose to not get notifications by unsubscribing because of this issue, then this solution has had a direct negative impact that needs to be rectified as soon as possible.
Regards,
Nicholas

Hi Nicholas,
that's great feedback. We'll need to assess how users are finding their content, and consider further segregating it. One of the biggest issues we had before was that we had too many little silos, but perhaps we have too few now.
How would you separate out the Documentum content?
Thanks,
Erich
