Do not like the new forum
Since the support forum moved from Powerlink to here, I foud it's very difficult 'to like' to use it.
First of all the contrast of showing the text was reduced. I am not sure why it's set like this.
Higher contrast like Powerlink does not hurt.
Secondly, the back button from browser does not work ( or does work extremely aggresive).
It always takes me to the first page, which I have read several times.
Thirdly, I felt the screen was so crowded ( believe me I did not change my monitor).
In addition, the search within a component was gone (maybe I have not found out it yet).
Overall, I spent much less time browsing the new forum.

I just clicked a link someone posted for a support note, it led me to the powerlink and I had to login again.
Will we some day see the support notes moved to here as well?

Yeah the text seems washed out wherever you read.
This is BOLD

Hi Allen,
thanks for your feedback. We've had several reports of users finding the text harder to read. Oddly, this is affecting everyone, so we haven't been able to really pinpoint the issue. The text is black, so maybe it's an issue with the default font size and how it's displayed on some monitors? What's your setup?
I'll open up this question to other users - are you having difficulty reading the default text format on our new platform?
Regarding moving the solutions, I wanted to clarify that although we moved our Forums to a new platform, technically we are no differently integrated with Powerlink than before. However, one difference is that with ECN your session may not timeout as quickly as it does with Powerlink, so you may need to re-login to Powerlink if that session has timed out. (On the old Support Forum platform, we had them timeout after the same interval.)
I hope this helps a little bit - we do want you to keep coming back, so let us know what we need to do to help with that.
Thanks,
Erich

One more note - the in-forum search is available through the search box at the top-right of the screen:
Have you tried this?

Erin,
Im ok with the layout so far but the first thing I noticed right away was the fonts. Whats interesting is when I am typing up responses the Text is black but when its posted on the forums its a light grey color.
As for my setup I dont know what to say, any website I go to is clear and the text is very legiable. Which is why I noticed right away that the text looks washed out on the new site. I have changed the text color to black in hopes that it will look different and I will bold my question and name next.
Did we loose the ability to preview our messages before posting?
Thanks,
Mike

Ok changing the font color to black makes a difference. I think the default text color on the site is grey and since the background is off white it gets harder to read. Unfortunately the subject titles are still grayish looking and unless everyone manually changes the text color their text will be washed out.
Text Color Black. In "text color font" pop up this is the top left black which is the darkest.
Text Color next shade lower In "text color font" pop up this is the top right black.
Text Color next shade lower This looks like the default color for the entire site
Text Color next shade lower
Text Color next shade lower
Thank you,
Mike

Hi mpalumbo
I got what you have done to make text more legible.
Probably many people just do not know how to do it or got used to what others post there.
Just check how many posts we have being 'washed out'
I would suggest the black setup will be default.
Anyone who wants to use fancy style will find their way to do that later, right?
Best Regards
Allen
PS. I hope my THIS post will show clearly. I could not find a way to preview it either.

Hi Erich
Thanks for the explanation.
Is the in-forum search the same as 'in component' search?
I tried that several times, it did not work as expected from 'in component' search.
Sometimes I found it's very useful only search posts from one component, such as Administrator or Webtop/WDK.
With the current setup where a post can be tagged to many components,
I am not sure the idea to search within a particular component still holds.
Thanks again for your reply.

Allen,
Hahaha exactly. If I want to be fancy/artsie than I should have to chooose to do so!!
OR how about everyone is default black but we have a setting that allows people to choose their own default. I am sure that option is very last on their list right now.
Also, I really do miss the preview button before posting.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi - I see exactly what you mean about the font color- thanks for that! I'll pass the issue along to our ECN friends.
Regarding the Search. I misunderstood what you meant by component, and apologize for that. What you are trying to do is filter the results based on a tag, which is what we use to separate the threads within those "components" (which are actually called Tag Groups).
You can do so with the syntax tags:search_tag, for example:
performance tags:webtop
With regards to the Preview comment, with the new platform we now have a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) editor so that function is theoretically no longer required. I agree that the editor doesn't reflect the final message perfectly, though.
How and why were you using the Preview that our editor is missing?
Thanks,
Erich

It turns out that the body color inherited by the support forums was not matching our standard value. I've gone ahead and fixed this. It should be much darker than before though not pure black.
Thanks for the feedback.

Now somebody started the discussion I must agree with them. I'd like to have the text back to real black as well

Aashish - thanks for the quick adjustment - it makes a visible difference. I can tell because my last post had some default text, and some black text, and I find the diffference far harder to see than before.
Is it better for the rest of you?
