Dell T630 Dual Processor Error – LEDs Blinking
Hello Everyone,
I hope you are doing well.
We wanted to upgrade the processors in our actively used Dell T630 server. The server originally had two Intel E5-2620 v4 CPUs and was working perfectly fine.
We removed those processors and installed two Intel E5-2697 v4 CPUs.
When we try to start the server, the initial screen appears but disappears after about 2 seconds. The server continues running, but nothing shows on the screen afterwards.
When I remove CPU2, the system works without any issues on a single CPU. However, when I install CPU2 again, the system fails to boot.
With CPU2 installed, four of the seven LEDs on the motherboard (the top two and bottom two) start blinking. Without CPU2, all seven LEDs remain solid, and the system runs without issues.
After working on this for about 16 hours, we thought maybe the system could not handle two 145W CPUs, so we reinstalled the old processors. Surprisingly, the same issue persisted: if CPU2 is installed, the system shows the same error; if CPU2 is not installed, it boots normally with only CPU1.
The strange part is that the system does not display an actual error message. The only signs are the screen appearing briefly for 2 seconds before going blank, and the four blinking LEDs on the motherboard.
The motherboard is Revision A00.
Bios: 2.19.00
If you have any ideas regarding the issue, or if you need additional details, please feel free to ask.
Thank you.
