Data Domain integration with Symantec Backup Exec 2010
Hello
We are using Symantec Backup Exec 2010 as our backup software. Recently we purchased a Data Domain 160 (6TB Raw Capacity). I have some queries for which I am desperately looking solutions for. We have got licenses for DD Boost; Replicator; Storage Expansion etc.
Queries
i) Is the De Duplication funcationality built in to the DD 160 by default? Do we need any other license for the De Duplication ? is there a way by which we can test that de duplication is working perfectly
ii) While integrating with Symantec Backup Exec, is there any plug-ins we have to install on the Symantec server. I have heard about OST plug in's. Do I have to install it? If yes, from where can I get it? Is there any seperate license requirement?
iii) How can I integrate DD Boost with Symantec Backup Exec 2010. From where I will get the integration software? I have read it will improve the backup performace.
What I did?
I created Mtrees (around 5 ) and shared each of them. And then from Symantec I ran the Back up to disk wizard. Mapped each of the shares to a Back up To Disk folder.
Is it possible that I can use the same Back up to Disk folder for 2 different Backup Jobs at the same time?
Please I request all the subject experts to share the information. I am sure that there will be a lot of persons who have integrated Backup Exec 2010 with Data Domain.
Thanks & Regards
Riaz

do you have access to Data Domain website ? They have integration documentation for each backup product.
