Contact Acct deactivated

For independent consultants who are often switching between contracts
A few observations
1 There is always a few weeks gap before a consultant gets a new contract offer ...new company...new id.
Now during that time he does'nt have access to support forums.
2.For someone who is contributing significantly to forums.instead of deactivating his id everytime he changes his company..it will make more sense if he can still post in support forums(his other access like downloading products can be blocked during that time)
3.Deactivating significant contributors for a certain time period will hurt the forums instead of any gain
4.So my suggestion is all masters(and any significant contributors) should have permenant acccess to participate in support forums

Appreciate all your responses

Hi,
This is a very valid suggestion. I think they can have differebt privileges and let the users use the forum. That would be great!

I have added this to our list of enhancement requests.

I suggest, since accounts are created and assigned as Colleague or Consultant, It would be feasible if accounts could be portable. In some cases, different clients assign different Account IDs, it makes sense that accounts should have some kind of joint collaboration between user/client. Permanent access to Forums would be especially useful like the Documentum Forums on Yahoo Groups. Participation in forums is optional and as such there is significantly less overhead/cost for Documentum then for case support. Permanent membership can be justified based on sometime like DCTM credit or a small paid membership. Lets say for example, for each occurrence a member is picked up by a Documentum Client, the member would accrue a free 1 year membership to the Forum. If the member is not linked to a Documentum Client by the years end, the member would be obligated to pay a yearly membership say $10.00/year. If the member is again picked up by another Documentum Client, the paid membership is applied to the following year. Either way the member or the client has paid a fee in some way for continual membership. Portable Accounts and Permanent access to at lease forums are a necessity for all of us in the Documentum world and necessary for this forum to work at 100%

Did anything ever happen on this. I will be leaving my current employer/EMC partner shortly and it would be nice if I could retain access and keep the points I have accrued!

Unfortunately, while you are not working for a current customer of EMC Software, you will not be able to access our support web site, which includes the Support Forums. Once you are again working with a current customer of EMC Software, have the customer log a Support Site Feedback letting us know that they want to move your account to their company. This way you will be able to maintian your status within the support forums.
