Career switch into cloud computing

Hello cloud enthusiasts,

I have a solid 6 years of industry and consulting experience in SAP administration leading multiple project lifecycles and modules.  Because I have a solid generalist skill set to fall back on, I am considering taking a shot at some of the trending in demand IT areas such as Cloud Computing.  Though not directly linked, I think I could market my SAP experiences as a plus.  Regarding Cloud Computing, I have a degree in IT with emphasis in Network Administration, previously received network certificates, have all kinds of server admin experience, etc, so it seems some of my experiences fit the job description, but would certainly need to look into picking up cloud computing services as offered by EMC / AWS and leading cloud computing certifications.  The reported entry level salary for a Cloud Architect is around 83K it seems, is that accurate?  Does it sound like I could give Cloud Computing a try?  What is the feedback from anyone else out there who made a switch to Cloud Computing?  Glad you switched or now regretting?

Any advice is much appreciated,
J
