Accessing AX100 from Windows Server 2008
Have a Dell 2900 w/direct Emulex fibre connection to an AX100 SAN.
Was trying to upgrade server OS to windows server 2008.
SAN is recognized and can see the virtual disk on the SAN but all are marked as Basic with no options to format for use.
Server Agent doesn't see the connections.
I see that Windows Server is not on the supported OS's for the AX100.
Is there a work around to make it work with Windows Server 2008 or do I need to roll back to Windows Server 2003?
Thanks,
Rick

Windows 2008 is supported on AX100, make sure you are running the latest flare 26. Some versions of Windows 2008 will bring in new disks in "Offline" mode, you need to bring them online first.

I have Flare 2.19.100.5.043 installed. I see there is a newer version, 2.19.100.5.048, I take it you are suggesting this will enable the Windows Server 2008 compatibiliy. If there is a newer version of Flare, please include a link. It wasn't clear what your reference to '26' was.
The virtual disk I'm able to see are 'offline', and I am able to set them to 'online', but it doesn't give me any other options. All other options, like 'format' are still greyed out.
Thanks,
Rick

I don’t think support for windows 2008 is not enabled in flare 2.19 but when I was looking in E-Lab navigator one of the matrix showed flare 2.26. I think it’s host related though ..can you connect another windows 2008 host that was not upgraded but a native install ?

FYI: My Windows 2008 was a clean install on the physical machine as opposed to a virtual server.
I updated to the latest Flare for the AX100 that I am aware of 2.19.100.5.0.48, then created a new
virtual drive on the SAN and I was able to access the drive (however, still can't access pre-existing drives).
Not sure if the secret was the new flare or creating the drive after the hook up, also don't know if I'll run into any
other issues since win2008 isn't officially supported, but so far so good.
Thanks,
Rick
