Update BIOS

Hi,

How can we use DCU to manage our BIOS updates?

We plan to update our BIOS firmware on 100s of laptops. We currently have a GPO to configure all of the DCU settings and set it to automatically download and install all driver updates. We have 'BIOS Updates' enabled, but you can't set the BIOS password (wouldn't want it set in the registry either). This means BIOS updates aren't managed. Is it possible to get BIOS updates working this way?

If not, we have SCCM so perhaps there are some good ways using that, but we don't want the password recorded in plain text

This is the command.

dcu-cli.exe /configure -biosPassword=thebiospassword

Can run it from powershell, cmd via SCCM package or script

The problem with dcu-cli.exe /configure -biosPassword=thebiospassword si that is leaves the password in plain text and in logs.

There is this option but there is a lack of documentation on it and how it works. Dell says only "

Allows the user to provide the unencrypted BIOS password securely."

dcu-cli.exe /configure -SecureBiosPassword=thebiospassword
