Sata driver for Optiplex 390 for XP?

I cannot find the drivers of the sata controller. I think it's Cougar but not sure. (I got a 7B BSOD on reboot)

Where to get it?

The 390 doesn't have a SATA driver available for download, but the Cougar chipset drivers are available. I don't have a 390 in my lab to identify the specific controller and suggest an alternate driver.

mmm weird. I created a fresh image based on winxp sp3 with SCCM. When I run the task sequence the os installs, drivers, client and some things until the first reboot I got a blue screen with error code 7B. This indicates a missing sata driver. Maybe I need to integrate the cougarahci.inf ?

Possible, you can verify the driver you need by getting the PNPID for the device while in WinPE. Then cross reference it to see if cougarahci.inf includes it. If, not, check one of your other Intel Mass Storage drivers to see if it is included.

Or, post the PNPID for the storage device that is on your system and I can look into it.

Ok, I just tried without the cougar ide and it didn't work. Manually installing XP does work and even without the Cougar.inf installed.

EDIT: I just tried the same image on a Lenovo T61 and everything is working so it must be the machine and his drivers...

Hi Warren,

I checked and it's VEN_8086&DEV_1C00 & VEN_8086&DEV_1C08

This is Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller and refers to cougide.inf and cougide.cat. Those 2 I had imported into SCCM but are not enough or no good during first reboot.
I now, removed them from installing. I'll see what it says.
