OptiPlex 745 No Valid Network Adapter in WinPE4
I'm having trouble getting OptiPlex 745 to be able to use our WinPE4 boot image. They get a failed to find a valid network adapter error. In have imported drivers into the boot image (via SCCM 2012)-I started with the A01 version of the WinPE4 cab. I have since tried adding the A00 version, the A11 WinPE3 cab, and network drivers downloaded from the general dell site for the 745 model. No dice. Any thoughts? Sadly we still need to be able to put XP on these boxes.

SCCM 2012 (SP1) lets you also load WinPE 3.1 Boot Images that could be used for this. Basically the same boot images you were using in SCCM 2007 but in SCCM 2012. You of course would need to have a separate Windows XP Task Sequence and use this WinPE 3.1 boot image on that, but it should work.
Internally we've actually depreciated the OptiPlex 745's and don't support them in our SCCM 2012 environment.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion, I may be forced to do that. In my testing, we've found that the A00 version of the WinPE4 cab works perfectly with the 745. It is when you go to the A01 version (which appears to be needed to support the new 7240 laptops) that they stop working. I was hoping for a solution that didn't involve supporting 2 boot images. I am currently adding 1 driver at a time from the A01 cab and testing to see if I can determine which driver causes the 745 to stop working. Then hopefully I can just leave out that driver and support the 745s and 7240s on WinPE4. I will post back if I come up with a WinPE4 solution.

We found that the A00 version of the Dell WinPE4 drivers worked fine on the 745s, but not on the newer models like the E7240. So we ended up (just yesterday) finding a happy medium which works for both models. I imported all the A00 x86 WinPE4 drivers. Then from the A01, we imported only there x86 drivers.
