How to install Windows 7 X64 on Dell Latitude E7470

I am having driver issues while trying to install Windows 7 X64 on a Dell Latitude E7470. I have tried via external optical device and bootable USB.

This is mainly due to USB drivers. Does anyone now how to get around these issues?

I am using SCCM 2012 R2 to image this model with Windows 7 x64, I had to ensure I had UMDF and KMDF inside my WIM otherwise the OSD Build process would constantly fail.

Hello I have a Solution!

I downloaded the .iso file from Dell and used a 2.0 8GB usb to mount as a bootable file.

And for got the driver error on an E5550!

Then I took the same .iso file and burned it to a DVD must be a dual layer.**

Next i used the Cd drive off my old latitude any of the series E64XX or E65xx 20 30 40 .. ect.

I used it in conjuction with a L-Sata male to USB adapter. Bascially it allows me to use the DVD player with a usb port. The problem is the all the new USB ports is 3.0 and it doenst have the driver. but if you use my method. it detects the dvd drive as a known peripheral and you wont have the driver error.

Didnt have to remake a file or anything! Luckily I had all this stuff but you may not. If you want buy the adapter it was like $5 ebay and then the dvd drive you may be able to salave one off an old computer it slips right out. or buy one cheap off ebay.

Please like this comment if it helps I know it will!

I use WDS.  Simply load the boot and image file from the default Windows 7 ISO and then download the cab drivers from the dell website.  Import the drivers into wds, and then right click the boot file and add the basic drivers into the boot file.  Works only if you have dhcp and few other services though.  Not sure what your envrionment is like.

+1 for windows recovery image tool - worked for me after several failed attempts at getting the NIC driver into WDS, getting USB 3.0 drivers into windows setup installing from USB flash drive and USB dvd-rom, and other mishaps.
