Dell Precision T3600 - migrate single drive RAID 0 boot SAS on PERC H310 to SSD?
I recently acquired a Dell Precision T3600 workstation with PERC H310 controller.
There is one 600GB SAS drive connected to the H310. It is configured as a single drive RAID 0 virtual disk, that also serves as the boot volume. This is the only storage drive in the system.
I would like to add a SSD to my system to act as the boot drive and use the SAS for data and backups.
Is there a straightforward way to migrate trhe SAS data to SSD and use that as the boot drive on the H310? I'm thinking about getting one of those SSD 'migration kits' with tools (SATA to USB adapter and such...) to put a ghost of an existing drive on the SSD. Can I simply do the data migration and then replace the SAS drive with the SSD? Would that work? Or would that screw up the existing virtual drive configuration (single drive RAID 0)?
greetings,
Dries
