Dell Optiplex 390 why no AHCI ?!

Hello,

we bought some days ago 8 (Business?!) Optiplex 390 and we hadn't look that detailed in the tech manuals for these Computers.

Who thought, that in 2012 some Big Computer Company like Dell delivers PC's with Windows 7 and no AHCI?

We have here FSC P2550 Core2 with Nvidia 630a and AHCI and HP Elite 7200 with h67 and AHCI. Even our old Dimension 5150 and e520 have AHCI/Raid Mode.

But only the Dell Optiplex 390 habe no AHCI, only IDE Mode. That really sucks!

I didn't believe it, but you really feel the difference between HP elite Core i5 with AHCI HDD and Optiplex Core i-3-2120  with IDE Mode HDD.

Should'nt AHCI be possible with Intel H61? Every cheap asrock, MSI Board with Intel H61 Chipset is able to let the Sata Controller work in AHCI Mode. Why is Dell castrate the Optiplex 390?

Is it possible to get this feature ?

The next Buy is acer or whatever, there you have no such surprises. And we even do not bought the cheaper Vostro Line!

I'm really a Dell Fan for a long time but this makes me change my opinion.

The crapy Intel H61 chipset Dell decided to use does not have AHCI, so each next line of Optiplex after 330 is worse & worse http://www.jagatreview.com/2011/03/intel-h61-chipset-review-almost-all-the-features-for-less/
