Hi Ultra - Thank you for bringing the issue to limelight. The screeshots did help but if you could attach few more screenshots or give information that you see on these property pages, that would help.

1) In the Driver File details for Control Vault, can you select the third item wbfcvusbdrv.sys and see the provider that is displayed for it. It should be broadcom. If possible share the screen shot. Please also go to "Details" tab and in the drop down, select hardware id and share the same with us.

2) The drmk is for digital rights management, please disregard. Instead please select HdAudio.sys and please see the Provider. If possible attach the screenshot. Please share the Hardware Id too for the device.

I had resolved Audio issue, but for Control Vault here you go.

A power state problem could be because of either insufficient power supply due to policies (software) or due to a hardware device issue. I presume you tried a reboot already because that solves a lot of such issues. We usually attribute 10 to device issues. I will anyway have a look at this again, see if this is an issue with the driver itself. Again, the error suggests the hardware state doesn't allow the start. However modern hardware being software-configurable..I will look at that possibility too.

hi Sreejith, i am not sure i understand what you are saying.

Hi Ultra, I think it would be a hardware issue. We have seen such hardware issues in the past. The error code you took a screen shot of - Code 10 suggests that. . This is a rare scenario but it is a laptop and such issue happen if you are running with battery. It can also happen if there is an internal hardware issue that is blocking sufficient power supply.

The other possibility is some power policy that might not be giving the device sufficent power.(see control panel/group policy etc).

The third is a driver fault. This part I can confirm from my end. Hope I am clear now.

Also please use the latest driver cab that you can find in support.dell.com.

Hi Ultra,

Good checks. This further confirms on the problems with the hardware since now both OS carrying different drivers are showing issues. When I say power supply I mean supply to just this device not the entire machine. This happens if there is a flaw on the board or a recent hardware change that disturbed some internal wiring/circuitry. It would mean a hardware problem that got created due to static electricity etc. But discussing about hardware is beyond the purview of my role and perhaps know-how. I am sure the tech support can advise you better on this.

So i have reimaged windows 8.1 same model on different computer, and it did install all software fine,,weird.

So, i am guessing i need to change MB on that laptop.

One thing i could't understand why all drivers were loaded on effected system when i reimaged with windows 7x64, but same system reimaged with windows 8.1, the vault drivers has error code.

Ok may I suggest then, if you go to support.dell.com and to the e7240 platform, download Dell control vault driver after you have fully installed the win8.1 in the problem-machine, try installing that version

Just run that executable you have downloaded. It is the first one, the version A14. Please share your results. When you move your mouse pointer on the Dell control vault, the status bar of your browser would show DriverID=D2JF6 , that is the driver you shoudl try installing.
