Dell command update won't update from 2.2. And what's in v3

Howdy,

We have DCU 2.2 installed on our machines as part of our imaging process. However, when we run it, it finds version 2.4 as available but fails to install. We get an MD5 hash error or something like that. Does anyone else have this problem?

I can install 2.4 manually and it replaces 2.2 and seems to work OK.

However, I now see that there's DCU 3.0 available. Can anyone tell me what the difference is and if I should just be using v3? v2.4 doesn't seem to see v3 as an update so the oly way I can get it is to install it by hand. Just don't know what the difference is.

This is primary on XPS15s running Windows 10.

Thanks.

I haven't tried using DCU to update DCU to the newest version, I've only updated it using ConfigMgr, either Task Sequence or App Install.
If you use DCU-CLI.exe at all to run remote commands to update things, then you need to stay with 2.X.  3.X removes command line.  If you only use the GUI, then go ahead and upgrade.

We stage DCU on all our machine and just use it as the first step in troubleshooting various things to get things up to date.  We don't do anything remotely at all.

When I run 2.2, it finds 2.4 as one of the updates and tries to install it but then it just fails.  if I run 2.4 it doesn't find 3.0 as an update so I guess that's by design.

Thanks.
