Dell Business Client BIOS Updates

Hello,

We are investigating using the Dell Client catalog with SCUP and SCCM to deploy BIOS updates. Everything seems to make sense other than the fact that there are seemingly quite old updates in this catalog. Am I viewing the correct catalog? I used the one that was built into SCUP as a 'partner' catalog from Microsoft, the URL is:

Specifically, we are trying to get these BIOS updates pushed through to enable us to use Out of band management (the BIOS updates include ME Firmware upgrades that are required for our provisioning to complete). The Optiplex 780 and 790 BIOS revisions in the catalog are currently new enough, but the Optiplex 755 and 760 BIOS'es may or may not be compatible (the versions available I have not yet tested).

Is there a process in place to request new versions of BIOS'es be included in the catalog? What is the intended update cycle for these?

Hi Warren,

Specifically, we are currently testing deploying System BIOS updates for the following models and BIOS revisions using a task sequence and run command line steps:

Optiplex 755 - Version A21 - www.dell.com/.../optiplex-755

Optiplex 760 - Version A13 - www.dell.com/.../optiplex-760

Optiplex 780 - Version A12 - Current version on site is A14 - www.dell.com/.../optiplex-780

Optiplex 790 - Version A11 - Current version on site is A16 - www.dell.com/.../optiplex-790

These were the current versions when the task sequence was initially developed, and they all contain at least the required Intel ME updates that include our AMT provisioning certificate hash.

I imported the catalog last Wednesday, November 21st, and I currently have the following BIOS versions in Software Updates:

OPTIPLEX 755 SYSTEM BIOS,A12 - Date revised: Friday, June 1, 2012

OPTIPLEX 760 SYSTEM BIOS, A12 - Date revised: Friday June 1, 2012

OptiPlex 780 System BIOS,A13 - Date revised: Tuesday, July 31, 2012

OptiPlex 790 System BIOS,A15 - Date revised: Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Basically, the 780 and 790 versions appear fine, but the 755 and 760 versions are older than the ones we have already been testing deploying through an SCCM task sequence, and I was hoping we would be able to use Software Update functionality to apply these more successfully in our environment.
