CCTK Bug (wakeonlanbootovrd)

The --wakeonlanbootovrd option does not exist in the latest versions like the documentation suggests.  This is stopping us from using the CCTK.  Are there any plans to implement this or can I get a --token argument to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Hi Brian,

The option wakeonlanbootovrd  is still available in CCTK 2.1.1.

Can you please provide the details of System, BIOS & etc. ?

I can confirm that CCTK 2.1.1 cannot set --wakeonlanbootovrd (reports as  platfrom not supporting this) on Dell OptiPlex 790 with Bios version A16. It is possible to set Wake On Lan with PXE boot through the Setup Screen, but then CCTK --output does not include anything about "wake-on-lan" into produced .ini file at all.

I can confirm this doesn't work on Optiplex 9010 A12 or Optiplex 990 A17 with Dell CCTK 2.1.1.

The option appears in BIOS but --wakeonlanbootovrd does not set it.

I'm checking with the CCTK team.  However, if the --wakeonlanbootovrd option is working on other systems, then I would suspect that the issue may have to be addressed in the BIOS for the platforms that aren't working correctly.

Thanks Warren,

Those BIOS versions are the latest for all those platforms, how would I go about getting it fixed if it is a BIOS issue?

Hi ektich,

Looks like there is some confusion.

The version of BIOS may not have provided the programmatic interface, so it is not working in CCTK.

Can you please let me know the result of the command below,

cctk -h wakeonlanbootovrd

If + appears near any of the options, it would be supported.

Hi,

On an optiplex 9010:

cctk.exe -h wakeonlanbootovrd

wakeonlanbootovrd:  The options 1.Enable :When the system powers on due to a Wak
e-on-LAN event, the NIC boot-ROM is automatically given the highest boot priorit
y, pre-pending the PXE boot-ROM to the system current boot sequence. If the syst
em powers on due to some other event, this selection does not influence the boot
sequence. 2. disable : The boot override feature is disabled and the system boo
t sequence is in effect for all types of system power on.
Arguments: enable | disable

Note : + Indicates the arguments supported in the current machine.

Below is a photo of the option in BIOS that it is supposed to set..

Hey Warren,

Any update on this? Is there any way I can follow up on this myself? Should I log a service call against one of the desktops or do you have a contact for the CCTK team?

Cheers,

Noah

From what you provided, it appears that wakeonlanbootovrd is not support in that version of the BIOS on that system as you do not have a + next to either enable or disable in the output of the CCTK command line.

You will need to open a support ticket to ensure that your issue is being tracked by the support teams.

Thanks,

Warren

If you have confirmed that the option IS available and working on a system in your environment (confirms CCTK functionality) AND you have confirmed that the option IS NOT available (details above) on some systems in your environment (confirms BIOS does not support), then you should open a support ticket so that the BIOS issue can be logged, tracked, and resolved.

Be sure that you have verified on the latest BIOS available as that will be the first question from the support team.

Thanks,

-Warren
