BSOD after restoring image Windows 7 (E5520,E6520)

Dear,

We are getting a bluescreen on all or E6520, E5520 when restoring our base Windows 7 image.
It is a standard stop bleuscreen.

Our base image is made on an Optiplex 755 and then sysprepped with WAIK 3.0. Based on a origninal Windows 7 pro cd.
The image is taken by Novell Zenworks imaging, latest release 10.3.3.
This image worked on all pc's including E6510 and E5510.

Then i saw a yellow paper with 512e Hard drive. This is the only difference between our old laptops and the new ones.
I also saw on the dell forum that we need to include de intel RST driver. But we don't use winPE or WIM images... so i dont know how to include it.

When we try to install with the original windows cd , it doensn't find the hard disk.

I already tried the Paragon Recovery disk to align the disk again but this also doesn't work.

The odd thing is that the old xp images made on the Optiplex 755 work on the new laptops.

We need to fix this issue cause we have a lot of new E5520 and E6520 (aprox 50) in our company.

Thanks in advance.

Joeri

You need to check with Novell to see if their imaging solution supports Advanced Format drives. General information on preparing your image for AF drives can be found at the TechCenter article http://del.ly/afhdd

Yes they support it. I have installed their latest patch:
http://www.novell.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=7008796&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_TID_1_1

Its odd cause when I install windows from the dell recovery cd or a regular windows 7 disk it can't find his hard drive..

I also read the doc. they always talk about injecting driver but i dont use the winpe part...

I have found the solution.

When you want to restore your own custom images you have to remove all partitions. (Including OEM partition)
I did this with the windows installer. Removed every partition there untill i got a unalocated drive.

This can be closed.
