VRTX GPU power

Hello I have a Dell VRTX with M630/M640 blades.

I'm looking to install a nVidia RTX 4000 ada card (possibly two)

The card only requires 130W max and I believe the VRTX can support upto 2 x 150W cards so should be fine from that point of view.

What I cant work out is the RTX 4000 has a 16 port power connector and I cant work out how to get that type of connector in my vrtx. I know there is a cable that plugs into 2 x 6 pin connectors in the PCIe cage which will give a 8 pin connector but how do I convert that to a 16 pin.

Also the cable I mentioned before use 2 x 6pin ports to give 1 x 8pin.

I will be looking at adding a second RTX 4000 at a later point but with only 3 x 6 pin connectors on the PCIe cage how would I even connect up another power cable?

As I said the RTX 4000 only requires 130W max so not outside of the VRTX range?

I appreciate this kit is EOL but would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Hi,

I'm sure that you have already checked that the server's power support, I went on check on the available cables that is used for the server's GPU power cabling. There is only 2, X5DNV that is 1X6pin to 1X6pin and 215XG is a 2X6pin to 1X8pin, which you mentioned. There is no 16pin convert cable which is available.

Perhaps, I would recommend to wait for any users here in the community that has the experience in their VRTX unit to provide some feedback

Thank you again Joey (you also helped me with a HDD issue) I've done more research and found a 4000sff which does not require additional power so I'm planning on testing one of those to see if it will fit my requirements.
