hello,
We have a Poweredge T410 running Windows Server 2008 R2
With a PERC H700 Adapter, with 4 physical SATA disks setup in a RAID array.
One of the disks had an issue and I removed the physical disk and expected it to rebuild. It did not rebuild and now appears as Foreign Disk (see below). I would like to rebuild this disk so that it appears online and is part of the RAID.
The notes i have found online to resolve this issue are:
Go to Information/Configuration --> Controller tasks dropdown list--> Foreign configuration operation --> Execute--> Then it shows me "Orphan Drive 0" and for the state it says "Failed"...There is a clear button and if I press that this message comes up:
The controller has physical disks that contain one or more virtual disks that were created on another system. The Clear Foreign Configuration task deletes these foreign virtual disks. All foreign virtual disks will be deleted. Are you sure you want to continue?
The question i have is quite simple and I think i know the answer but to be certain - can you confirm this will not impact on the 3 other SATA physical drives and the server will remain operational as normal, i.e. this change will not wipe the 3 existing disks.
Can I assume after i select Clear and set the disk up again - it will rebuilt as normal and then act as normal and appear 'Online'
Sorry i know this is quite a basic question - but in the case of it being our primary DC I do not what it to impact the existing operations of the server.
Also, if there is no impact can this change be carried out anytime (during office hours), or should it be done after 6pm.
Thanks for your help.
