Poweredge R820 - CPU error on iDrac preventing startup

I have a Dell Poweredge R820 which failed when upgrading Openmanage. The Server crashed and failed to restart, giving a CPU error.

In the  iDRAC there are two CPUs which are in Error and 2 CPUs are green. (4 in total) The Server wont boot. I tried to reseat the CPUs, then I removed 2 error CPUs and server still wouldnt restart.

The Server is a Hyper-V host in our DR site running 3 live servers and 10 replicas from primary site.

We are hoping to get access to the VHD data of the live servers and restore the virtual servers on another host.

If we remove the disks from the origional server what is the best method or recovery?

Can i simply install all the disks on an existing R730 with an operating system installed will I be able to copy the data off or do I need another R820.

If I put all the disks into an R730 with no disks in it already, will I be able to boot the server and recovery the data?

essentilly I am looking for the best way to recovery this data from the disks using a R730.

Many thanks in Advance

Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting the dedicated Out of Warranty forum for PowerEdge products. We have sent you a private message on the forum in order to get the Service Tag of your PowerEdge Server.

Kind Regards,
