PowerEdge 1950-Battery hardware is missing or malfunctioning, or the battery is unplugged

Had the following error

Device:51007-gw-2002.intra  service vice Tag:******* Asset Tag:, , Severity:Critical, Message:Alert message ID: 2048, Battery failure. Device failed, Controller 0, Battery 0 [Event Code:2048]

On changing the black Lithium-Ion battery  type P9110 capacity 7WH,

The original Device:51007 message is clear.

On bootup the screen displays an error stating the battery hardware is missing or malfunctioning, or the battery is unplugged. I have left the server running overnight however on reboot this message is still there.

Please advise what I can do to eliminate the error

Hi Rakesh,

I replaced the battery with an Identical Dell type P9110 – rating 3.7v ----  7WH, it came from a disused server.

I did not clear the logs.

Is it true a completely discharged battery will need to be charged in the Dell 1950 with power but not switched on for a period of 48 hrs before it can be used

Regards

Jos
