Aging of RAID batteries for Dell R710

Hello,

We keep stock of RAID batteries for PERC6/i cards. I believe they are quite old. Some have manufacturing dates on the labels and newest ones that I've found are from 2010-2011. I am fairly certain that no special storage procedures were followed (like periodical recharging) and they were just kept in a box since purchase. It's unlikely they were pulled out of a decommissioned server.

I wanted to ask if these would still work and not fail after e.g. two months. Is there a way to test them? Are there special storage procedures that need to be followed? I've heard that if batteries like these discharge completely they cannot be charged anymore.

Thanks,

Pawel

Dear Pawel,

Thank you for contacting the dedicated Out of Warranty forum for PowerEdge products. We have sent you a private message on the forum in order to get the Service Tag of your PowerEdge Server.

Kind Regards,

Manjunath
