DELL created a Docking Station Firmware update here (April 19, 2026) but this version has lower numbers than the previous firmware update here (March 23, 2026). How can I fix and update to the latest version? Or do I have to wait for DELL to release 3 more updates before I can update again?
@James_COL_FL I've heard back from our teams and was able to confirm some important info. The package version and publish date do not determine upgrade precedence for these docks.
Firmware update eligibility is governed by component level version comparators, not by the overall package version string or release timestamp. Although 01.01.11.01 has a later public release date, it contains lower internal firmware revisions than 01.01.13.01, specifically for the Gen1 and Gen2 Hub firmware.
As part of upgrade validation, the firmware installer performs a strict semantic and numerical comparison of each embedded component (hub controllers, retimers, PD controllers, etc.). If any component version in the target package is lower than the currently flashed version, the transaction is classified as a downgrade and blocked accordingly.
This behavior is intentional and compliant with firmware safety, rollback protection, and platform integrity requirements. So all in all, version 01.01.11.01 is an older dock version that was re-released with that April date. The support site surfaces 01.01.11.01 as the “latest” package due to publish date sorting. If you are already on 01.01.13.01, then you are indeed on the latest firmware version available on a component-level and no additional updates will be needed. You can safely disregard the attempt to update to 01.01.11.01 as the dock will prevent the downgrade. Further clarification is required on our end under the release notes to prevent misinterpretation.
To confirm the issue, is your dock currently on version 01.01.13.01, but you are unable to update to latest released version 01.01.11.01? Does the firmware update utility say anything about not being able to update or downgrade? Feel free to share a screenshot if able.
This is the versions installed with the prior update in March... So the April update doesn't install any patches or fixes because everything is already updated.
@James_COL_FL I'll get this reported to our driver teams for clarification. Since the dock driver package address multiple models, I suspect 01.01.11.01 is really just addressing issues for some of the other docks and not the WD22TB4 specifically. With your picture it would certainly seem to be a downgrade with the gen1 and gen2 hubs. You're likely safe skipping out on this update, but I'll check back in once I have some more info on this. This may take a few days to be cleared up.

@DELL-Daniel V
Yes it allows me to press the UPGRADE button however doesn't update because everything is newer in the prior release so nothing is updated.
