Restore archived file with Networker
Hi all,
I'm new to DiskXtender and I have a question concerning the restore of a stub.
My config is :
DiskXtender 6 for Windows
Extended drive are on IBM ESS
Networker 7.2
We use a NAS (simulated by a MSCS file server) to archive files on cheaper disk Fast IBM).
If a user has a directory with files and stubs and he makes a delete of this directory.
With a NAS, DiskXtender will delete the stub and the archived file on the NAS.
He then asks a restore of this directory. We make the restore with Networker.
Do we have to do two restores ?
A first restore to make the restore of the directory on the extended drive - check if there are stub in the restored directory - if yes start a second restore of the archived file on the NAS .
Is it possible with a NAS to prevent the delete of the archived file - and only authorize the delete of the stub (as with a WORM device).
Thanks a lot for your help.
Regards.
Pierre

I don't think you can restrict delete in DX with NAS media (unless you're using NetApp Filer with SnapLock - in which case the Retention option is available). Use the Prevent File Delete option on the extended drive to limit delete rights for files in media folders that contain read-only or write-once media (media from which files cannot be deleted), including WORM and finalized DVD media. This option does not affect files in media folders associated with rewritable media (like your NAS).
Hope this helps.
