Novice Question: Step By Step Procedure Pushing Data to DX
Good Morning,
We're newbie and novice on DX, just got our Centera reformatted and DX 6.1 freshly reinstalled.
Next move will be pushing data from our Windows 2003 File Server to DX and Centera.
Is there any documentation step by step procedure (hopefully with screenshots) on how a novice like us to configure DX to archive data?
Other than published DX Admin Guide PDF on Powerlink, which we as novice currently find a bit difficult to read and understand
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.
Regards,
/J

It is in the documentation downloads
Here's the breadcrumb trail:
Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ D ~ Documentation > DiskXtender for Windows > 6.x
the section on configuring Diskxtender goes step by step, and although it may not seem clear on reading, once you begin following the steps it becomes more so.
hope this helps!

Here's what you want (I think). However, this is not a step-by-step instruction. How to do stuff can be found in the Install/Admin guides.
1) Install DX
2) Create a new extended drive, set it schedule, options, etc
5) Configure Media services for EMC Centera by providing the IP addresses of access nodes
3) Create a media folder on the extended drive (eg. E:\Data)
4) Create a media group for E:\Data, set the automatic media creation options and assign EMC Centera to the newly created media group
6) Allocate the medias to the extended drive
7) Create a move rule
8) Create a purge rule
9) Introduce some files in E:\Data
10) see the files move to centera
Hope this helps you understand.
All, correct me if I am wrong somewhere.
Thanks
