MediaStor error: 16480

Hi all,

recently i just installed and configured my MediaStor to interact with 1 dedicated logical partition library out of 3 from my IBM 3584 L281 Tape library which is confirmed supported in the compatibility list.

After making sure the partition, 2 assigned LTO-3 drives and 32 slots were detected and configured nicely, i put in a media tape into one of the I/O slots and select which logical partition this tape should deliver to. Then i clicked "Insert" button under the MediaStor "Manage Media" windows. After selecting the location and quantity of the media. It prompted me insert media in the mailslot which already did. Then i click ok.. it showed me this error: 16480. I already made sure the door is closed properly but still have this error.

Can you verify with some tool that logical jukebox is providing mail slots too? (if you have NetWorker somewhere you can use sji* tools for that). It is also possible that on library level external control of mail slots has been disabled - if you have sji* tools you can easily verify that. Recently in NetWorker forum we had something like that where difference in how NetBackup and NetWorker are managing library caused issue like that.

Fyi, i did disabled the mediastor and use JUKE Manager to check the layout of the partition. it showed and detected only 1 mailslot although this library is claimed to share the 16 mailslots among the partitions with the menu control. i dont understand why this mailslot only but not others.

i don't have networker in the server as this server is working in conjuction with netbackup software in there.

Will there be any issue to have netbackup and mediastor sit in the same server?

There you go, read last message here:

As you can see, it is possible that NetBackup blocked call to use mail slot in this case.

I'm not sure if stopping NB will do the trick as perhaps something else is needed to clear state from library device... You can try it.
