DX6.2 and PowerPath policy with Symmetrix storage
Does anyone have an explanation about this recommendation?
In document PN:300-003-812 a01, EMC DiskXtender Rel. 6.2 Microsoft Windows Version, Installation Guide.
In the DX interoperability section, under PowerPath on page 119.
1. They recommend minimum two HBAs.
4. Configure PowerPath to provide load balancing and path failover by specifying a failover policy.
For Clariion they recommend (co) which is right, for other devices (bf).
BasicFailover (bf), does not help in case of HBA failure, nor does it load ballancing.
I hope this is only an old typo, from an earlier version of the documentation.
Now I installing DX on a server with two HBAs, connected to a Symmetrix, and a valid PP license. I keep the PP policy on Symmopt.
