DX is not moving files to the extended drive.

A little background. My media is retained NAS media. NetApp media. Last week I had our NetApp vendor setup snapmirror on my 2 newest LUN's. When he did that, he applied a patch on the that changed the amount of free space needed on that lun for replication. It used to be that for netapp luns to be snapmirrored (replicated) to another LUN (either on that same netapp device or in our case at our DR location) you need 2 for 1. Meaning that if I want a 25GB piece of retained NAS media, I would have to create a 50GB LUN and be certain that I don't write more than 25GB of data to that media. I did that by setting my auto remove options in the move group to auto remove at 25GB + 10MB. This patch removed the necessity for doubling the space needed to replicate. So he resized my LUN's to 25GB. Instantly DX saw that free space available fell within my auto remove threshold and auto removed those pieces of media from the move group. I changed my threshold to auto remove at 10MB. So it is not auto removing the media anymore, however it still will not write to that media. There are no errors in DX event logs or Windows event logs. Currently I have 17,000 files "Pending Move" but they will not move. I've rebooted the DX server. I've mapped a drive directly to that share on the NAS and can write (from the DX server). As we are a financial company, we are currently out of compliance with these 17,000 files as they are not stored on a WORM piece of media. Not to mention that they are not being replicated which puts us as risk. Anyone have anything for me? I have opened a SEV 1 case with EMC over an hour ago, but nothing. I should also mention that a full drive scan has run since this issue started to no avail.

But no piece of media is set to be finalized in any way. How do I check to see that it has been marked as Full? How do I change that. I don't want to create new pieces of media when these are in theory fine.

It is NetApp media. So there is no finalization. We are using DX 5.60.049. I hope you are not saying that EMC will not support NETAPP media. I have an open Sev 1 SR that has not been responded to yet. You are making me nervous now.

you only finalize DVD media - you said that you are using NetApp for your Media or did I misunderstand and the NetApp is your extended drive? I do not believe that using a NetApp Filer was tested as an extended drive - it was only tested as a media service.

if you are using DX 6.x the when the media is full it changes to a different color in the DX admin GUI

As a media serivce it is supported
What is was trying to say was that while you setup auto remove when media is full it seems to me that you did not set up auotmation in the move\media group so if all your meida is at 25GB is it rightfully saet to full and you can not write to it anymore. But you also do not have any available media to write to either so you can not move or puirge as there is nothing to write to.

Go into the move\media group and set up automation to create media

My Sev 1 case was just responded to. And it was handled in almost record time. You were completely right. The media in the registry was set to "Full". The tech made a simple registry change for those pieces of media that were set to Full and it was off to the races. Our version of DX doesn't allow for the gui to make that change back to not full. Thanks for your help!!
