DiskXtender Recycle Bin questions
We deployed DX 6.2 SP1 on Windows 2003 servers. The files are sent to Centera. A previous post in the DX forum indicates that when files are purged, and backup tapes containing the complete copy of the original purged file age out and are recycled, the data could not be restored if the stub file was deleted. It was strongly recommended we enable the DX Recycle Bin and age files out of the Recycle Bin so the Centera data is not deleted before the backup tapes are aged out of the system. One thing noticed when enabling the DX Recycle Bin is that ANY delete is captured, not just deletes of stub files. While this could have a beneficial impact of protecting data that has not been migrated/purged between tape backups, it also causes available disk space to go down as files are deleted and placed in the Recycle Bin. There does not seem to be a way in the gui to tell DX to only protect stub files rather than all files on the extended drive. Is there a way to talk to DX with a script to identify which files in the recycler are stubs and which are not? Something like this would be extremely helpful.
