DiskXtender fetch performance
Dear All,
during a migration project I have to fetch all the files back to the extended drive. My problem is the performance, I prefetched the smallest amount of data, using the media prefetch. It is 32GB and contains 186677 files. The total time was ~ 4 hours. There is only one media.
The files server is a vmware virtual maschine running on 32 bit Windows 2003 server ,and DX 6.2, it stores the archive data to a disk share of another virtual maschine running the same windows server operating system. The ESX cluster nodes are connected trough 10Gb/s Network interfaces, the datastores are connected using FC 4Gb/s.
Do you know any way to speed up the DX prefetch process? Is there any parameter to set?
The only thing I found was the media fill method now it is on random fill, but i think it does not help much reading from this media.

There is no parameter for making fetch faster.
You can
- Launch multiple DxDmChk utilities on different directories to make fetch parallel
- Media compaction is also an option. Since there is only one media this might take more time.
I would suggest you to contact proressional servies as they have gone through migration work.
BTW on which media service files reside?

Sreenidhi,
I use NAS media, unfortunately there is only one media. Thank you for the DxDmChk idea, I am going to test it.
