Cant extend a new drive Dx v6.30.P03

I attempted to extend a new drive (300Gb)  However, I get a  System Error pop up. ERROR_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY (8)  Unable to perform command requested.   Is this saying the Dx server is low on memory resources?  It is running Server 2003 on just 2Gb of installed memory.   Any suggestions?  We have missed our maintenance window so I cant do much until next week.   Dont ask I know you should be able to extend a drive on the fly... ;-(  Client insist off hours...   Maybe a reboot to clear memory before we try again???   TIA

Hi Dave,

Can I have few more details, before answering the question?

1. Could I have the exact DX for Windows version? Is it 6.30.200 Patch 3 or is it 6.30.271 Patch 03?

2. What is the backend? Is it Centera?

3. Does this customer already have other drives that have been extended and are working fine?

Thanks,

Vinod

Hi Vinod,

The Dx version is 6.3 Patch 3 is applied. Windows server 2003 O/S

Backend is a Centera Gen4LP

There are 3 previously extended drives.F: G: and H: are all managed drives.

I'm attempting to extend drive I:  But the error pops up immeadiatly.

Dx error_image002.jpg

One thing I have noticed is the host file has no entry for the Centera access nodee

i.e   192.168.1.1     Centera1

       192.168.1.2     Centera2

The media service references the aliases

Centera1,Centera2?C:\PEA\CENTERAPEA.PEA

How would Dx know the IPS if the aliases werent configured in the host file?

Thanks

Dave
