backup for archive
from diskxtender doc, it says archive "lives outside the backup window", so Q1 is how to protect the archive data? say my secondary storage is all SATA, every day the "active data" may change, in another word, the view of archive is also not static, Q2: when restore, how can i get the right archive which is complementary of the active data?

i refer to a ppt from 2009 SE accreditation. as you say, only active files and stub to archived file(pointer) are backed up, since less files are backed up, this will shorten the backup time
but i have a question, when we backup active data, we have many verison, say june 1 full backup, july1 full backup, aug1 full backup, but the archive have only one verison - the latest version.
so when restore, we will restore the active data, say july 1, but we have no archive at that time, will this cause problem?
