Upgraded graphics card for LS-36 MB?

I'd like to upgrade the graphics card or controller for the FoxConn LS-36 MotherBoard in my Optiplex GX270.

I have just installed a Dell 2407WFP 24" monitor. The compatibility chart for the wide-screen monitors does not list the 2407WFP, just the 2005FPW and the 2405FPW:

Dell Wide Screen Compatibility Chart:

However, the description for the 2407WFP says it replaces the Dell 2405FPW.

Despite having this huge amount of real estate at my fingertips, I am limited to a 1600x1200 resolution.Looking at the MB itself, it does not appear to have an AGP slot. There is a unidentified green slot to the side of the 3 PCI slots which I suppose might support a graphics card, but which one? I cannot find the specs for the FoxConn LS-36 MB on either Dell's or FoxConn's web site.

The currently installed graphics adapters are:

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

Can anyone tell me what graphics card and or controller uprade CAN be installed on Dell's FoxConn LS-36 MB?

It has AGP 8x slot it's the green slot you were talking about

Did you install the monitor driver?

I checked the spec sheet for Intel 865G on intel's website and max res is listed as 2048x1536

those low end cards are limited to 1600 x 1200

Higher end cards with 256 to 512 megs ram will be able to do that resolution via DVI

The BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC is one such card.

Max resolution is one thing but Oddball Wide Screen TV resoulution is another. I do not think you will find Either of these DVI resolution on INTEL 865 Series.

1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz

1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz

Why dont these work? Because the Ratio is wrong.

The Dac is designed for 4/3 not 16/10 resolution.

QXGA 2048×1536 4:3

WQXGA 2560×1600 16:10
