HP Printer spits out 2 pgs

I just bought an HP photosmart 7760 printer. Everytime I start the computer, the printer spits out 2 pages with only USBRUC printed on them. The HP people have seen the problem with Dell computers, but suggested the fix should come from Dell. Apparently the computer sends out a signal to wake up USB devices and this prompts this printer to waste two pages of paper. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

You failed to include your PC Model.  However, many Dell's have an option in the BIOS to boot from USB.  By default that is enabled, but you should disable that option.

That's about the only thing, Dell related, that could potentially cause the problem.

FWIW, I find a large percentage of problems referred to HP are "it's not my problem" it's your PC or your Operating System, no matter what brand of PC.  But, it's not just HP, "finger pointing" seems to be the name of the game by many vendors and the customer is left holding the bag trying to figure out who or what is really wrong.

Thank for the tip, Fireberd. Sorry about the lack of information. The Dell is a Dimension 4550. Could you give me some direction on changing the BIOS settings? Thanks again.
