Horizontal Mouse Lock
I have a Dimension XPSR450, running W98, MS intellimouse, original equipment from 1998. (The system has been terrific!) Recently, the horizontal movement of the mouse freezes (vertical continues to work) and restarts after several minutes. The mouse mechanics have been cleaned. Does this sound like the board is dying? If so, does anybody know what board to replace for the XPSR450? Thanks. Len

First try un-installing the mouse from device manager then reboot the system and allow it to identify and reinstall the mouse. If this does not cure the problem try another mouse. If the problem persists then you may be looking at a replacement of the motherboard as the controller for this device is part of the main board of the system.
