Dimension e510 No sound, I KNOW WHAT TO DOWNLOAD!!!!
I sat down for many days and tried to figure out what to download to get my speakers working and I finally got it working today.
There are 2 things that you need to download to your computer to the speaker working, 1) Chipset driver 2) Audio driver
Below I will put a list of steps on what to do.
1) support.dell.com 2) Drivers & downloads 3) Choose by sevice tag ( The service tag is the barcode on the back of the computer )
4)Put the number in enter service tag section and click go. 5)Results pop up and go down until you see chipset driver and click download now. Follow download steps
such as save, download etc... 6) After you download the chipset you will need to download the audio drive, follow same download steps as chipset, and to make sure downloads complete, restart computer after every download. Here is download link -> http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&cs=19&dl=false&l=en&s=dhs&docid=1429C677B0B1291CE0401E0A55170FED&doclang=en#1 Go down to where it show three selections, try the sigmatel first, and if you dont get sound from that try the second selection and then third. One of these will work, most likely the sigmatel if it is a e510. Once download sound be work immediately.
Now you can enjoy your sound!!!!! Hope my steps were easy to follow. Bye!!!

Just a small addition to the steps stated above, rebooting the system after installing chipset driver.
Also if you have a creative sound card you will need to download it from creative website or from the disk you may have received with the system.

Dawood.

What you posted is great, but we know what you posted and when someone has a problem that is basically what we post to get them going.
Sadly, posting some info, as you have done, does not really help new users. They never do a search on the forum to see if their question has been posted or that a fix has been posted for their problem. They just make a new post.
