Can You Reformat A Memory Stick?

I have a Dell 128MB memory stick.  It keeps slowing down my laptop whenever I use it.  I was wondering if reformatting the memory stick might help.

Yes, you can reformat a memory stick. One suggestion that may help your slowdown situation. When you use the memory stick, do not save documents or files directly from the application you are using. For example, if you are preparing a document in Word, save it to the hard drive in Word, then close Word and use Windows Explorer to copy the file to your memory stick. You may have items in your recent document list that are on the stick, your system may be going out looking for them.
