ATI 9600 Install failure

Have a 1 ghz Dimension XPS B1000, Pentium 3, 820 Chipset, OS 2000, DirectX 9, 512 mg of memory.  Uninstalled my NVIDIA G-Force 2 per instructions, put in new card and rebooted.  Downloaded the latest drivers from ATI and ran install.  After the program copied in the necessary files I got an error message with a header of "SEVERE" that said "Zero Display Service".  Could not reboot into windows because it wouldn't get past the logon/pw screen.  Booted up in SafeMode ok, and under Device Manager it shows the ATI 9600 is up and running ok with no conflicts.  Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, same thing.  Can only get in SafeMode.  Been on the phone three times with ATI, they try but haven't got me anywhere yet.  I can reboot normally only if I first delete the ATI Drivers.  In BIOS I have it set to use AGP Devices, and memory is set at 64 mg

ATI thinks it is a motherboard AGP Driver installation problem.  Went to Intel and tried to get the latest driver, but I only found utilities to dl, no driver dl's.

Hi,

There should be a download for the chipset driver on the Intel site, this includes the AGP driver...
Also, i would recommend that you use Driver Cleaner to get rid of any Nvidia files, so you will have a clean install of the ATI drivers..
