SQL Server 2005 Express install failed

I have microsoft office accounting profeesional 2007 installed on my computer and all was woking fine the other day.  I went to use it yesterday and it wouldn't connect to the server.  It comes with SQL server 2005 express.  After trying everything I could think of, I uninstalled the server and tried to re-install using the accounting disk.  Now it won't re-install.  I keep getting that the sql server service failed to start and tells me to look at the online topics of how to view sql server 2005 set up log files and starting  sql server maunally.  Well I can't start it manually or any other way if it won't install and the set up logs are like reading an unknown language to me.  The error # is 29503.  I can't find any info on how to correct the problem.  Could some kind of update reconfigured something that would make it not work?  I'm running windows xp home edition 2002 with service pack 2. I have McAfee isntalled and have tried turning both firewalls off to install, but that didn't work.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  They would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you post in the correct section first, as the chances that someone that knows enough about SQL to answer this would check out the Dell|EMC Storage section is rather slim.
