scsi drive

I have a dell dimemsion 4300. I want to change the hard drive to a scsi hard drive.Install a serial ATA pci card and all drivers.

After booting windows xp home it will format the scis drive then when I click on to install ,it can't find my hard drive When booting

up I press F6 to install scsi drive . This will be a clean install .

First; you may want to ask in the desktop section of this board instead of the Dell|EMC SAN storage section.

 

Second; A PCI Serial ATA (SATA) card cannot talk to a SCSI hard drive, so that would be why you can't see the drive.

 

However, if you have a (serial) ATA drive attached to the serial ATA controller, you may need to use the driver (on a floppy disk) that came with the SATA controller card.
