SC4020 out of disk space

I have a Compellent SC4020 with a 10TB Volume mapped to ESXi 6.0 servers. I have the error: One of the storage types is in emergency mode (out of disk space). I had deleted an 8TB vmdk and incorrectly assumed i can use this space. The space had not be reclaimed on the volume. The ESXi datastore currently shows "Inaccessible". There is a 1.6TB expired snapshot with a description of "Raid Balancing" and space recovery "No" and one active space recovery "Yes"

How can i reclaim the space on the volume and/or remove the snapshot?
