SAS 6i/r unable to sync at 3Gbps speed with 6Gbps SATA disks

Hi,

We have been running a SAS 6i/r mirror of SATA 1Gbyte SATA Seagate disks for a while as 3Gbp/s.

The array degraded and when swapping to a current model SATA-3 Seagate Constellation (6 Gbit) drive the sync speed of that drive is only 1.5Gbits instead of 3Gbp/s.

We then tried an equivalent new Hitachi drive - also with 6Gb transfer rate - this also only syncs at 1.5Gbits.

So it looks like the SAS 6i/r cant cope with the newer drives and drops back to the 1.5Gb speed - pain.

Has anyone got 6GBits/SATA-3 drives running at 3GBits on the 6i/r (or checked what actual sync speed they get)?

Note the sync speed is as recorded in the SAS BIOS so this isn't a driver issue.
