RaidGroups/Host/LUN
Hello. I have a WIN2K3 server which connects to a LUN in a Raid Group of our CX300. I want to add storage capacity to this host. I have an unused LUN in another Raid Group on this CX300. Can I add this LUN to this host, even though this unused LUN is not on the same Raid Group as the existing LUN currently used by the host?
Thanks in advance.

Yes this is possible. The host can use any lun in any raid group.
The only big thing to keep in mind is that 2 servers should never share a LUN, unless you cluster those 2 servers (e.g. Microsoft Cluster Services, VMware ESX HA/DRS cluster, etc).

Go to the Navisphere on your cx300 then in the storage groups find the storage group that was setup for the host you want to add a LUN.
Right cleck on that group and select properties.
Select the LUNs tab in the properties window.
Find your unused LUN under the SP it is attached to. Note your LUN will not appear if it is assigned to another host. Shared LUN will have to be on clustered systems or ESX servers.
place a check mark in the box next to the unused LUN with your mouse.
click OK
You are done with Navisphere.
At the host you will need to scan for harware changes in device manager or reboot the host.
At the host run Disk Management under Computer Management.
You should see the newly added LUN. Format and you are ready.
Good luck.
