Proper Forum?? External HDD's for backups
Hey Group, If I am in the wrong place, pls direct me to proper forum. This seemed the closest fit, so here goes: I am soliciting opinions on the most reliable, user friendly external HDD. I'm looking to use it for one full system image, then periodic backups. Something like the Hitachi 500GB XL series, WD's Essential, etc... Data transfer will be via USB, I'd like to keep the $$ amount under 60. Thx in advance for any advice, USOutpost31 (XPS 8100, Win 7 64 bit Home, 1 TB HDD, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD5450 graphics engine, two double layer capable DVD/CD burners).

I'd suggest you post in the desktop/laptop harddrive section. You posted in the Dell|EMC section. SAN storage doesn't do USB; it only offers fiber channel, iSCSI (and up to a level) SAS connectivity.
As a note; I saw a 2TB Seagate USB 2.0 drive for US$90 at my local Walmart this last weekend. This is a nice price-to-size ratio for a drive from a pretty respectable harddrive manufacturer.
