"PowerVault & PowerEdge" vs (just) PowerEdge.

The advantages and flexibility of PowerVault connected to PowerEdge server are obvious.
HOWEVER. 
What is there any performance (speed) advantage in purchasing the above setup  if I could get all the capacity I wanted on (say) an R7425 with "inbuilt" disks.
