PowerVault MD3820i - Recurring Virtual disk not on preferred path error
I suspect that I have a bad raid module 1 because I am unable to run diagnostics because of failure to communicate with storage array. It also fails to time sync between the 2 raid modules. I am able to ping both modules. Are there another other things I should check? I don't know why it says command set to hostname and IP address 0.0.0.0

- Firmware 08.20.0G06.0015
- Controller one appears to be online, I can ping it on both interfaces using different cables. It was not able to change the IP address from MDSM as it fails to connect to controller.

Hello dchau360,
What is your current version of firmware that is running on your MD3820i? Is controller1 showing as offline in MDSM or is it showing as online? Have you tried swapping the cables on the controller to see if there is any change?

Hello dchau360,
Do you have the serial cable that came with your MD3820i? if you do then you can change your IP that way as well.
For our virtual disk not on preferred path error here is a link to a post that will help with that.

Hello dchau360,
Can I get you to pull a support bundle from your MD3820i so that I can see what is going on? I will send you a private message so that you can send me the log.

I don't need to change the ip address but I was just saying when I try to change the IP address from MDSM it says something about raid controller cannot be reached.
I've already tried the solution to redistribute disks and that error will come back after 10mins.
