Power problems with AX-150
Dear All,
I've a Dell AX-150 with with FC controllers & the UPS device, where one of the power supplies ceased working.
I've read that when one PS stops working, the write-cache is disabled which perfectly suits my current problem, and therefore my questions are as follows:
1. As I still don't know how the power supplies are connected, meaning which PS is connected to the data center power and which is connected to the UPS device, and while assuming that the faulty PS is connected to the UPS, if I'll shut down the storage and connect the working PS to the UPS, will I get back the write-cache feature? In case I won't, is there another configuration that will allow me operating with one PS with the write-cache feature?
2. Can I still get a power supply replacement (Does it actually the entire controller?) from Dell or from Ebay or alike?
Many thanks for fast reply.

On a dual storage processor AX150, to enable write cache the following parts need to be fully functional:
- both powersupplies
- both storage processors
- the UPS (needs to power powersupply A and be connected with the serial cable to SPA)
- the first 4 drives
If you don't meet all of these requirements, the system will not enable write cache (no way around this).
On a single storage processor AX150, you just need 1 powersupply, SPA and the cachecard (part of the storage processor suitcase).
The powersupplies can be replaced individually (and hot), but don't pull the faulty one till you have a replacement. I think that after the powersupply being removed for 2 minutes, the unit shuts down (as the faulty powersupply does still cool the case (with power from the other powersupply).
