Need AX100 drive trays!

Drive trays aren't sold separately by Dell or EMC, so the only way you can find the tray is if someone took a drive out of a tray and is offering the tray.

You can try to find a couple of cheap AX100 drives and put in drives of your own choice.

I actually found the part number for the carrier (005-048389).  So I googled that and got a few hits, which I've put inquiries into.

I just want to keep these from ending up in Guiyu, China -- contaminating the global environment.  They have plenty of life left, especially as backup storage or even primary storage for low bandwidth requirements, like static web sites.

One of my spare time projects is to boot the processor(s) up into Linux, see what it recognizes, and possibly using that as an embedded o/s instead of XP (though I have to admit the embedded XP running Navisphere does work fine.  I just want options for complete doorstops with no o/s drives at all).

Just curious if you found the EMC 005-048389 drive carriers?  I am in the same situation where I would like to use the shelf and already have several of the 500 GB SATA disks.

I just purchased and received 6 from impactcomputers.com.  It was a pain trying to get them.  I couldnt even get them when ordering 6 drives from Dell for crying out loud.

Neither do I.  They actually took 2 weeks to get me the parts and i had to threaten them (I work for a governmental office with a lot of attorneys).  Once they received my email, they shipped the correct parts.  Turns out i dont need them though and i am listing mine on ebay.
