Installing a 2nd HDD to Dell Dimension 4300 - Jumpers?
Greetings all from Oregon, the shower me state.
My wife's Computer is a Dell Dimension 4300 system. The original primary drive is failing, so I purchased a WD3200AAJB 320GB drive to install as a new Master drive and make this failing drive the slave to move the programs and data before it utterly fails.
On my Inspiron 518 downtown I got away with using C/SEL when I added a 2nd drive and it took right off and has been stable for the last three years.
My Question: What are the correct settings for the Drives in a Dimension 4300? Can I get away with C/SEL or must I assign Master and Slave?
(Sounds kinda kinky)
Thanks and a lift of the lynch lid for your response.
Gus

You may want to ask this in the desktop computer area instead of the Dell|EMC (SAN) Storage area.
